We’re thrilled to announce the new NS1000 Hema Nav application is available in selected MY24 Nissan Patrol models. The Hema Nav app is pre-loaded with a 30-day trial subscription with the option to upgrade. Read on for the details.
Our journey began with a Patrol. Back in 2002 we crossed the Simpson Desert in our first-ever purpose-built mapping vehicle: a Nissan Patrol that would go on to earn the name ‘Map Patrol’. It marked the beginning of Hema Maps’ mission to explore, map and share Australia’s most remote and rugged landscapes.
Now, that journey has come full circle. The new MY24 Nissan Patrol features factory-integrated Hema Nav, delivering trusted, Australian-made offroad navigation, directly through the vehicle’s head unit.
This is more than just an upgrade, it’s a serious tool for serious tourers — a bit like the vehicle itself! Built into the all-new Directed Technologies infotainment system, the new NS1000 application powered by Hema Nav brings decades of mapping experience and remote exploration into one of the country’s most capable four-wheel drives.
Benefits & features
What makes the NS1000 built with Hema Nav in the MY24 Patrol a game changer? Check out some of the benefits and features:
3D Hema Explorer Map: Detailed topographic mapping of Australia’s offroad regions.
500,000+ verified POI: Campsites, fuel, dump points and everything in between.
Offline capability: Navigate confidently without mobile coverage.
Fully integrated navigation: No mounts, no cables — just seamless operation.
Custom offroad routing: Build, record and save your remote travel routes.
Built and tested in Australia: Backed by more than 40 years of real on-ground data.
Whether you’re towing off-grid, chasing red dirt tracks or planning your next Big Lap, the MY24 Patrol with Hema Nav is designed to go the distance — it’s mapping you can rely on when it matters most.
This isn’t just technology. It’s a continuation of the Hema story: built on exploration, shaped by experience, and now, right there in your dash.
Hema Map Patrol history
The Hema Map Patrol was first created in 2002 as a way for Hema Maps to visually field check the roads and tracks being mapped. The Map Patrol Team is made up of talented Geographic Information System professionals who physically verify each track, road, landmark, campsite, point of interest (POI) and everything in between.
Since 1996, Hema Maps has GPS mapped more than 700,000km of tracks and 600,000km of unsealed roads throughout Australia. We’ve also initiated a community-driven program where everyday Australians who love touring in remote areas help us collect valuable road data which informs our key maps and subsequently, all our mapping products.

The Hema Alpha Team is made up of 35 family, couple and individual teams who are constantly driving around Australia capturing data for us. We’ve enabled our Alpha Team Members to live and work on the road, and we love working with those as passionate about map accuracy as we are!
If you see the Hema Map Patrol specialised 4WD vehicles around or bump into any Alpha Team Members, come say hello, they love having a chat.
