Installing MSA’s Power Slide™ and Drop Slide Fridge Barrier gives you smooth access, secure storage and safer travel — a smart upgrade for serious touring and offroad trips.

Ease of use and extra protection with the MSA Power Slide with Table and Drop Slide Fridge Barrier

Nothing kills the mood faster than clambering over gear in the back of your rig just to grab a cold drink. A fridge is one of the most popular upgrades for touring vehicles — some say it’s non-negotiable. And if you’re planning remote travel and you pull an offroad caravan or camper trailer, a second fridge in the tow vehicle isn’t a luxury, it’s insurance. Extra cold storage means more fresh food, a stash of bait or beers, and even room for a fish or two if you’re lucky.

Why a slide matters

A fridge is heavy, awkward and downright dangerous if it isn’t secured. In an emergency stop it can become a projectile. That’s why a fridge slide is about more than convenience — it’s about safety.

MSA 4X4 Accessories build a full range of slides to suit most fridges between 40L and 95L. Choose from straight or drop styles, manual or powered. Add-ons like a slide-out table and a protective fridge barrier make it easier to use and safer to store.

Built tough, engineered smart

The MSA Power Slide™ is made from powder-coated and stainless steel, engineered to handle a lifetime of offroad use. A locking mechanism prevents movement on the track, while the powered version runs off 12V twin actuators. The power draw? Only about 7A over seven seconds. In other words, minimal drain for maximum ease.

Installing it into a Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series

I opted for the DS40 Power Slide™ with Table for my 200 Series, paired with the FBDS40N Drop Slide Fridge Barrier. The kit came with all the fittings — bolts, thread-lock, Allen key, instructions — the works.

The slide is built to last and it’s got the weight to prove it, coming in at 43kg. I roped in a mate to lift it onto my Storage Drawer System without scratching the 200’s paint. Positioning was the fiddly bit: it had to clear my side storage bins while leaving space for the barrier. The Power Slide comes with an Anderson plug, but once I was happy with the placement I had to make a lead with a matching plug, 20A fuse and battery terminals to connect to the house battery. Then I powered it up and it worked as smoothly as promised.

Bolting it down was simple through the pre-drilled holes. The FBDS40N Drop Slide Fridge Barrier, meanwhile, felt like a Meccano set — six lattice panels that bolted neatly over the slide. Quick, sturdy and no more airflow dramas.

The payoff

With my Dometic chest fridge strapped down, the difference was immediate. Two-touch control, a 30cm drop, smooth slide-out — and suddenly the contents were right there. No more crawling into the back and digging through gear for a cold beer.

MSA’s gear isn’t cheap, but it’s built to last. The DS40 Power Slide™ with Table retails at $1784, and the FBDS40N Drop Slide Fridge Barrier at $440. Both are available direct from MSA 4X4 Accessories.

Final word

For serious touring and offroad trips, securing your fridge properly is one of the smartest upgrades you can make. Smooth access, secure storage and safer travel — that’s peace of mind every time you hit the tracks.
