Hema Nav Launch and Hema Cloud

 

Dear Hema Maps Customers,   

 

I am writing to provide an update on the progress the team has made in delivering the new Hema Nav products that are being released today.  

Hema Nav is a new platform which integrates real-time turn-by-turn navigation with Hema Maps proprietary offroad data. The new Hema Nav incorporates:

  

  ● Hema navigation — Hema Maps’ road data and map content integrated and navigable, for the first time, with HERE on-road data. The new Hema Nav provides turn-by-turn navigation and offroad guidance all from the one screen.  

  ● Rich POIs and featured tracks — more than 500,000 searchable POIs and pre-loaded feature tracks to help guide offroad adventures.

  ● In the near future, the Hema Nav will also include all the market-leading Hema print maps integrated with the advanced offroad routing.

    As part of the release to all existing devices, they will all come pre-loaded with the Hema 4WD Maps application. With access to the market-leading 4WD Maps application, the new update enables access to the award-winning and iconic Hema print maps seamlessly.   

    The Hema Nav solution is the realisation of the vision the Hema Maps team has been working towards for close to a decade — the best map, regular updates and tailored navigation from home to the trail head, along the track and safely back home!  

    They say that necessity is the mother of invention; well, the development of Hema Nav in such a short period of time is reflective of that. In six months, we have not only sourced a solution that will support our existing customers who require an update to their current software, but we’ve also delivered a navigation tool which will realise the Hema Maps’ vision for the future. For that I am immensely proud of what the team have been able to deliver.    

    The new Hema Nav will be rolled out to existing customers who are using Hema-branded hardware and will be ready to be rolled out for new devices as soon as possible. The Hema Cloud connection and mobile apps are still in development and more information will be shared when available.

    What it means for our customers

    Anyone who has purchased a Hema Maps-branded HX-2+, HX-2 or AMHXD3 product will be able to update their device to the new Hema Nav. Each device requires a slightly different approach to update, so we have prepared a step-by-step guide for each device below:  

     

      ● HX-2+

      ● HX-2 (32GB) – Serial Numbers (last 5 digits) between [11060 and 18529] 

      ● HX-2 (16GB) – Serial Numbers (last 5 digits) between [00001 and 11059]  

      ● AMHXD3  

     

    Note: The previous process for rolling back devices to get around recent usability issues has been replaced by this updated path for customers who own affected navigation units. 

    For HXD-N users, a new version of the Hema Nav is being worked on and will be available shortly.  

    For users of the 4X4 Explorer App or the Hema Cloud, we are developing new applications and a cloud solution which will be available in the new year (Q1). For app users who are having their experience impacted by the Cloud service outage, the Hema Maps customer service team can help provide an alternative option in the interim, including access to the Hema 4WD Maps app.  

    Customer data — unfortunately, Hema Maps has no direct access to the customer data stored in the Hema Cloud. If your information was stored on your device, we will be able to extract this data using our updater tools and load into the Hema Nav. If your information was loaded in the Hema Cloud, we are continuing to request this information from HemaX Digital.

    We acknowledge the significant impact caused by the Hema Cloud being offline since September and we apologise to our customers. This matter continues to be subject to legal proceedings so we will refrain from any further comment.
