Hema Maps launches new edition of Great Desert Tracks Atlas & Guide

Hema Maps, Australia’s leading publisher of trusted and verified maps, is excited to announce the release of its latest product: the 6th Edition of its bestselling Great Desert Tracks Atlas & Guide

Hema Maps Great Desert Tracks Atlas & Guide

This new edition is an indispensable companion for anyone braving a trip through our country’s arid centre. The new Great Desert Tracks Atlas & Guide features 28 epic 4WD desert adventures, with three new tracks added since the last edition: the Buntine Highway, Sandover Highway and the Talawana Track.

Along with a comprehensive atlas covering the same areas as Hema’s series of Great Desert Track maps, the tracks within this new atlas and guide are coded by vehicle type, with suitability symbols and relevant information including permit requirements and contact details. Track profiles show elevations and distances as well as points of interest (POI), camping areas and supply points.

The guidebook features insights on geomorphology, history, environments and ecosystems to enrich your journey through this unique part of our country. There is also a detailed section on pre-trip planning to ensure you and your vehicle are fit to traverse the challenging desert terrains.

On the release of this new edition, Hema Maps Chief Explorer Rob Boegheim comments, “It’s been 25 years since we first mapped Australia’s massive desert heartland and we continue to discover new tracks and new places to explore, making each new guide better than the last. Our deserts are fascinating landscapes, filled with timeless treasures and endless horizons. You’ll forever remember camping under a billion stars!”

This invaluable resource means travellers can embark on their desert adventures with confidence, knowing that they have the most up-to-date and detailed information at their disposal.

The 6th Edition of the Great Desert Tracks Atlas & Guide ($69.95) is now available for purchase on the Hema Maps website and at leading retail stores.
