With this latest Hema Nav release, we’ve taken another significant step forward by integrating Hema’s own navigation data directly into the Hema Nav Explorer Offroad Vector Map.
Why does that matter?
Because navigating Australia isn’t always as simple as following the fastest route from A to B.
Once you leave major highways and sealed roads behind, conventional navigation can become less useful. Tracks change. Conditions vary. The distinction between a road, dirt road and genuine 4WD track suddenly matters a whole lot more.
This update has been designed to improve routing across many of those off-road tracks and unsealed roads, combining navigation with the mapping information 4WDers and tourers actually want to see.
A refreshed map of Australia
At the centre of the release is a comprehensive data update for the Hema Nav Explorer Offroad Vector Map. Road and track data has been updated across Australia, including newly opened roads, bridges and roundabouts. More importantly for those who prefer their adventures with a little dust involved, thousands of kilometres of 4WD tracks have been updated, alongside improvements to points of interest and overall map accuracy.
It’s part of an ongoing process. Australia’s road and track network never stands still. Roads open, alignments change, bridges are built and tracks evolve. Keeping mapping current is therefore just as important as adding new navigation features.
For the traveller, those thousands of individual changes add up to something much simpler:

Victorian adventurers also receive the Victoria High Country Top 30 4WD Tracks, providing even more inspiration for exploring one of Australia’s most iconic four-wheel-driving regions.

That’s why the latest Hema Nav experience extends across a range of compatible navigation solutions.
For travellers wanting an all-in-one navigation and driving companion, the HR-1 NAV puts Hema Nav into a dedicated in-vehicle device. And for motorbike enthusiasts through our motorbike smart navigator, the HX-1M.
For those who prefer to integrate Hema navigation into their existing vehicle setup, solutions such as the HX-BOX provide more ways to build Hema mapping and navigation into the way you travel.
Hema Nav is also available through compatible integrated solutions including the Alpine HX-Z8 and Alpine HX-Z6, while the Alpine NaviStick offers another option for bringing Hema navigation into compatible Alpine systems.

A simpler way to keep everything updated
A navigation system is only as useful as the information behind it, so we’ve also made the update process easier. The Hema Launcher has become the Hema Hub, with a refreshed experience designed to make managing your Hema device simpler.
The updated Hema Update Manager introduces a new Update All option, allowing available updates to be started with a single tap. There’s also a new Queued Updates list, so you can easily see what’s waiting to download, along with clearer app information and What's New details before installing an update.
It might not be the feature you talk about around the campfire, but it means less time managing your device and more time planning where you’re going next.
Plenty of improvements under the bonnet
Beyond the headline mapping changes, we’ve worked through a number of improvements designed to make Hema Nav more reliable and easier to use. GPX import and export issues have been addressed, along with a number of navigation and search improvements.
Together with the refreshed road, track and POI data, these changes make this release one of the most significant steps forward for the Hema Nav platform. But ultimately, software versions and data updates aren't what exploring Australia is about. They’re simply what helps make the adventure possible.
Australia rewards the traveller willing to take the turn-off. It might be a winding High Country track disappearing over the ridgeline. A dusty road towards a campsite you’ve never visited.
