Australians Remembered is a lasting tribute to the courage, sacrifice and commitment of the men and women who have defended our nation and upheld the values of courage, mateship and service that define us as Australians.

As a young Commonwealth emerging from Federation, Australia’s military story began with our involvement in the Boer Wars and continued through the defining moments of the Gallipoli campaign that helped forge our ANZAC spirit, the global conflicts of the World Wars, and the peacekeeping operations and deployments that have followed. This commemorative publication honours the people, places and events that have shaped our country’s military history, while preserving the enduring legacy of those who answered the call to serve.

Australians Remembered combines detailed historical research with Hema’s renowned custom cartography to create a meaningful record of Australia’s military journey from Federation through to 2026.

The Third Edition has been comprehensively updated and expanded, building upon the previous edition published in 2005, held within the archives of the Australian War Memorial. Carefully researched and respectfully presented, this edition ensures the stories of those who served, the places where history unfolded, and the sacrifices made are preserved for future generations.
