AMHXD3

brilliant bit of kit, no more suction caps on the glass, 4wd maps are excellent, Yes i have had issues but they have the majority of the time been user created and Hema have been fantastic on the phone. my first was HX1, then i still have my HX2 which i use as research while parked up with the van, and in my 79 series i have the AMHXD3, which is fkn brilliant in off road and its detail.

Hx1 was awesome. This is a waste of money

Unit has frozen since day 1. On road maps are Un usable. The software tries to predict your typing after the first 3-4 letters and the unit doesn’t have the processing power to manage that so it freezes. Sometimes for a minute, sometimes for 5. Then it allows you to type another letter or so and the process repeats.

Off road is okay when it works. Dont ask it to do anything major like searching points of interest or you’ll be waiting a while.

Would have been an okay device if they didn’t cheap out on the hardware. For the price buy something else.
Even the latest update has made little difference. It’s just too underpowered. Read the reviews before you spend your hard earned

Premium Off-Road Navigation for Australia

The HX-2 is an excellent GPS and is a perfect companion to ensure we are prepared to travel into remote and rugged Australia, along with relevant paper maps. The new update makes the GPS perform quicker and does not lag like the old update. The GPS itself is easy to use, and has great features. There are lots of online recourses to help answer any questions about any of the functions too.
I had the HX-1 before this, and it took some adjusting getting used to the HX-2 but I am very satisfied with this GPS for off-road adventuring.

Won’t hold charge

I bought the HX-2 in June 2022. It charges on 240v however when I plug it into the 2.1 amp USBs in my van the battery begins to drain, lasting a few hours until depleted. I know there’s power going to the ports as other devices charge quickly. It’s disappointing given the investment at the time - $650 from a third party supplier.
