hema releases new version of hema explorer
Hema Explorer Version 3.0 delivers the Hema Explorer Map to mobile devices for the first time, giving adventure travellers Australia’s most comprehensive source of topographic mapping at their fingertips. The Hema Explorer Map combines Hema’s entire database of roads and 4WD tracks in a new seamless Australia-wide, multi-scale map designed for four-wheel driving, touring, camping, geocaching and other kinds of adventure travel and activities. This gives users the ability to smoothly zoom from an Australia-wide perspective to a detailed scale of 1:150,000, delivering more accurate trip planning and navigation than ever before.
Version 3.0 brings routing to Hema Explorer for the first time. Quick Routing gives Hema Explorer users the power to generate a route line to or from an address, waypoint or one of Hema Explorer’s preloaded touring points of interest at the press of a button.
To access even more detailed layers of the Hema Explorer Map and unlock additional app features, Hema Explorer users can upgrade to Explorer Pro for $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Explorer Pro takes adventure mapping to a whole new level, giving users the ability to zoom past the app-standard 1:150,000 max scale to an unprecedented scale of 1:9000, anywhere in Australia. These incredibly detailed map layers include labelled track classifications to guide off-road enthusiasts, in addition to more detailed topographic information such as 10-metre contour lines and highly accurate river network data - resulting in a more insightful and immersive navigation experience for adventure-seekers. Explorer Pro users can also download State Topographic maps for New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania (with more states to come) as well as the seamless Geoscience Australia 1:250,000 topographic map to use offline.
Explorer Pro users also receive premium features for planning and sharing their trips online from their Hema Explorer Cloud account. This includes the ability to use Quick Routing on the Hema Explorer Cloud website and export those routes to a mobile device, to crop and print map sections from the Hema Explorer Cloud website, to view full facility information for campsites, caravan parks and other points of interest, as well as store high-res trip images on the Hema Explorer Cloud.
Version 3.0 of Hema Explorer combines the new Hema Explorer Map with pre-existing tools and content to empower adventurers like never before. You can find anything from a campsite to a 24-hour fuel station with 40,000 interactive points of interest, or use waypoints and generate routes with Quick Routing to plot the perfect adventure. See where you are on Australia’s best topographic mapping to navigate off the beaten track, and save your journey with real-time track recordings and geotagged photos. You can even upgrade to Explorer Pro for more detailed mapping and to unlock additional Hema Explorer Cloud features to better plan your trips and share them with the world. Designed for explorers and backed by 20 years of GPS mapping data for Australia’s wildest places, Hema Explorer is your passport to adventure.
Hema Explorer is available from the iOS App Store and Google Play for $49.99, while a subscription to Explorer Pro is an additional $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
