Hema Explorer Cloud retired — what’s next?

The Hema Explorer Cloud retirement and how it may affect you.

As we have previously communicated, the legacy Hema Explorer Cloud has been retired. But in case you missed our previous comms or didn’t make time to back up your data, here are some simple ways you can still save and reuse your precious data and memories and continue to use them on one or more of our newer Hema apps and Hema Maps cloud.

Just to be clear, if you don’t own a Hema HX-1 GPS Navigator and/or the Hema Explorer App, then no need to worry about anything, this change does not affect you.

If you DO own a Hema HX-1 GPS Navigator and/or the Hema Explorer App, please keep reading as the following does affect you.

Hema HX-1 and Explorer app

Hema HX-1 GPS Navigator and Hema Explorer App

The HX-1 GPS Navigator (2016) and Hema Explorer App (2013) will continue to work but are no longer supported by the Hema Explorer cloud platform.

You can still continue to use your products, just a number of features will no longer be available as a result, including the ‘Sync’ feature and former cloud website (cloud.hemaexplorer.com.au).

There will also be no software updates, bug fixes or feature additions for the app in the future.

Don’t stress though, the new Hema Maps Cloud, 4X4 Explorer App, HX-2 and HX-2+ devices and the ever-popular Hema 4WD Maps App continue to be supported by Hema so here are some easy ways to continue to use your saved tracks and memories on your newer Hema app or device:

Save your data — you can still export your data off the app to your own device or email it to yourself. Please follow the instructions in this Hema Knowledge Base article to save your data successfully.

Importing your data — there is a way to import your downloaded GPX files onto the cloud website and then back into the relevant/current app/device listed above. There are step-by-step instructions in this Hema Knowledge Base article for how to import your data successfully for each device.

Special offer

Due to the Hema Explorer Cloud retiring, we are trying to migrate our existing customers over to the new Hema 4X4 Explorer App and new Hema Maps Cloud that utilises our new state-of-the-art vector mapping. This application is compatible with iOS 9 or later and with Android 8 and up.

If you are an existing Hema Explorer App customer, we would like to offer you a free 12-month subscription to the Hema 4X4 Explorer Premium Map subscription (normally $49.99 annually) on purchase of the new 4X4 Explorer App.

If you’re an existing Hema Explorer App user and would like to purchase and install the 4X4 Explorer App, please create a new Hema Maps Cloud account as it is a different cloud system.

And if you are an existing HX-1 GPS Navigator customer, we have a special offer for you to trade it in for our latest Hema HX-2+ GPS Navigator. You will need to call the Hema Maps tech support team for more information on this offer and how to action it.

For more information on any of the above offers you can submit a ticket to our tech support team here or call 07 3340 0000.
